What We Do
Therapeutic Martial Arts
Rabbi G, the founder of Kids Kicking Cancer, identified several very effective techniques to reduce the suffering of kids dealing with cancer and other serious diseases. In each session, our specially trained Martial Arts instructors, teach techniques to relieve pain, stress and anxiety through traditional martial arts movement, breathing techniques and guided imagination.
Breathing Techniques
Breathing techniques are ways of modifying the normal breathing pattern in order to affect the Autonomic Nervous System, most often to reduce the physical tension and anxiety that turn discomfort into pain and pain into suffering.
Guided Imagery
Guided imagery is a mind-body intervention by which a trained practitioner or teacher helps a participant or patient to evoke and generate mental images that simulate or re-create the sensory perception of sights, sounds, tastes, smells, movements, and images associated with touch, such as texture, temperature, and pressure, as well as imaginative or mental content that the participant or patient experiences as defying conventional sensory categories and that may precipitate strong emotions or feelings to produce a powerful sense of inner calm, confidence and self-mastery.
